As a school with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff, part of my role is ensuring we support the spiritual lives of all people at Capital. We provide interfaith prayer space for people of any tradition, support the work of student groups like the Muslim Student Association, Jewish Student Association, and Catholic Student Organization, as well as provide programming that features interfaith dialogue and promotes inter-religious partnerships and community engagement. This is a ministry of support and accompaniment.
Embrace evolved out of the history Lutheran Campus Ministry on Capital's campus with the intent to embrace all Christians on our campus committed to liturgically grounded, progressively minded, creatively engaged, other oriented campus ministry. When class is in session, we have University Worship each Wednesday at 10:05AM in Kable Chapel, inside of Kerns Hall. Every Thursday night at 9:09PM we host a candlelight event that incorporates contemporary and contemplative practices. This is a ministry of faith formation and action on behalf of the entire university community.
Forming Leaders at Trinity Lutheran Seminary
Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University forms leaders for Christ's church at work in the world. Our students train to serve congregations as pastor, deacons, and musicians, as well as the wider church. This might look like chaplains for higher education, hospital and hospice care, or military chaplaincy. It might look like community organizers or leaders in nonprofit social service organizations. The goal us to form people that help others to form faith. This is a ministry of teaching and reflection.
